As I have explained above it is normal for the head of the baby to pass through the birth canal first. But unfortunately this doesn’t always happen and sometimes the baby’s buttocks come first. This is what is commonly known as a breech birth. In even fewer births the child’s shoulders or some other part of the baby lies across the birth canal when labour begins. The doctor will decide what to do if any of these complications arise. |
