Pregnancy is not a disease and it doesn’t mean you must stop what pleasures you enjoy and stay at home for the duration. Carry on with your life in the usual way, but do it in moderation. You should avoid any kind of excesses even that of rest. You should also avoid lifting anything heavy and that includes heavy physical work. A pregnant woman will greatly benefit from a reasonable amount of exercise. A good, brisk walk will be beneficial to you. Gardening is also considered a good exercise for pregnant women. Dress comfortably when you are pregnant and wear loose fitting clothes. Avoid wearing tight, fitting clothes as it will make you feel uncomfortable. It is best to wear low, heeled shoes as wearing high heels will not only be uncomfortable but you may well trip causing harm to yourself and your unborn baby. Your breasts are going to grow as you advance in your pregnancy so wear a good, fitting bra. A woman’s desire for sexual intercourse is often reduced during pregnancy. Women are also afraid to have a little romance when pregnant. They fear that something may happen to the baby but having sex with your hubby will not harm the baby in any way. Unless your doctor has warned you not to have sex, it is generally safe to carry on having intercourse when you are pregnant. Don’t be ashamed of your enlarging body as being pregnant is very natural. Your husband or partner will be more than happy to know that you still desire him even though you are now heavy with his child. It is also good for your self esteem to feel sexy and it helps to reduce stress. Try and get your husband or partner to get involved in your pregnancy as much as possible. Let him accompany you to the doctor for your anti natal visits. |
